13th Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy Staff Talks conclude on successful note in Colombo

The 13th iteration of the Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy was successfully conducted on 14 Jan in Colombo, underscoring the continued commitment to bilateral maritime relations.

In conjunction with the staff talks, the Indian Navy head of delegation, Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation), paid an official call on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, at Navy Headquarters on 13 January.

The meeting featured a cordial discussion on key bilateral matters, emphasizing the ongoing Indian–Sri Lanka Navy Staff Talks, focusing on the shared commitment to strengthening relations and maritime security cooperation between the two navies. As a gesture of continued partnership, Rear Admiral Maddula presented a collection of maritime studies and publications to the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee.

The Sri Lanka Navy delegation attending the Staff Talks was led by Director General Training Rear Admiral Ruwan Rupasena, whereas the Indian Navy delegation was led by Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula.

Discussions during the Staff Talks began with a review of progress made from the 12th edition. They covered a range of operational, training, and technical matters, with a focus on strengthening bilateral relations, improving cooperation and interoperability between the two navies, expanding training exchanges, sharing technical expertise, enhancing cyber security and information exchange, and conducting joint naval exercises.
