Navy supports environmental conservation of Sri Pada precincts

In a contribution to environmental conservation, the Sri Lanka Navy participated in a community outreach initiative on 19 Feb 26, aimed at preserving the ecological balance of the sacred Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) precincts.

The event was conducted under the "Samanola Siri – Haritha Wandana" national programme, implemented in collaboration with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ Secretariat and the Ministry of Environment.

As a leading partner of the Presidential Task Force for the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ national programme, the Navy plays a key role in supporting the social, environmental and ethical restoration of the society. In line with this commitment, naval personnel joined forces with government institutions, the sister services, the Police, the Department Of Civil Security, civil organizations and the public for this environmental stewardship mission.

The combined effort focused on the responsible collection and removal of non-biodegradable waste discarded along the devotees' pathway from Nallathanniya to ‘Siripa Maluwa’.
