Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) embarks on ambitious quest for Guinness World Record
In a remarkable display of endurance and determination, Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) commenced his attempt to set a new Guinness World Record today 20 Mar 26. The veteran naval officer began his grueling 48-hour challenge on a manual treadmill at 10:00 AM at the Naval Detachment Colombo, under the supervision of official world record adjudicators.
This historic sporting endeavour was inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon. Sunil Kumara Gamage, alongside the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, both of whom arrived to boost the morale of the retired senior officer.
The ambitious attempt seeks to shatter previous benchmarks by covering the greatest possible distance on a non-motorized treadmill over three distinct intervals: 12 hours, 24 hours, and finally, the ultimate 48-hour run.
