Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Rohan Dissanayake
The Sri Lanka Navy today (06 Apr 26) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Rohan Dissanayake, as he relinquished duties to which he was committed over the past 34 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, along with the members of the Board of Management and Area Authorities of the Sri Lanka Navy, extended best wishes to the retiring officer celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Dissanayake was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with time-honoured naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.
Rear Admiral Rohan Dissanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 04th intake of Naval Infantry in 1991. Throughout his distinguished naval career, the flag rank officer had the privilege of holding prestigious appointments, which include Executive Officer SLNS Vijayaba, Gajaba, Agbo, Pandukabhaya and Walagamba, Commanding Officer SLNS Gajaba, Parakumba, Vijayaba, Mahanaga, Kashyapa, Pandukabhaya and Naval and Maritime Academy, Command Land Operations Officer (South) and (North), Commandant SLNS Vidura, Naval Officer in Charge Trincomalee (South), Director Marine, Director Navy Infantry and Commandant Naval Infantry.
