Navy empowers northern fisher folk with emergency skills

The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, conducted an awareness programme of Lifesaving and Basic First Aid for the fishing community in the North on 09 Apr 26, at the Myliddy Fisheries Harbour in Jaffna.

The programme aimed to raise awareness among the northern fishing community on providing basic first aid during medical emergencies at sea, and managing such critical situations.

As part of a continuing series of awareness programmes for the fishing community, this event provided a valuable opportunity to address common problems faced by the fisher folk.

Further, the Sri Lanka Navy remains committed to conduct similar programmes for the benefit of fishing communities.
