Commander of the Navy awards insignia to RABS personnel after successful completion of their Qualifying Course
In a proud ceremony held at the parade ground of the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Headquarters in Gangewadiya, Puttalam, 36 naval personnel (02 officers and 34 sailors) were awarded insignia, marking the successful completion of the RABS Qualifying Course No 27. The dignified ceremony was graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris.

Commander of the Navy attends Indo-Pacific International Maritime Exposition and Sea Power Conference - 2023 in Sydney
In a significant display of maritime collaboration and strategic engagement, the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition and the Indo Pacific Sea Power Conference 2023, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy, were successfully held from 06th to 09th November 2023 in Sydney, Australia. Amidst a gathering of naval leaders, defence experts, and maritime industry professionals across the globe, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera also attended this year’s naval defence exposition and conference.

Afloat Command secures first place in Inter-Command Drill Competition - 2023
The Inter-Command Drill Competition - 2023 was successfully held at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna on 08th and 09th November 2023. The final round of the competition was graced by Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, as the Chief Guest. In a display of precision and synchronized excellence, Afloat Command emerged as the champion in the Inter-Command Drill Competition – 2023.

Remembrance Day commemorated in dignified sequence
The solemn occasion of commemorating war veterans who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I and II, as well as to the present day since Sri Lanka gained independence, fell today (11th November 2023). Accordingly, the Remembrance Day commemoration, held at the Navy Headquarters, was presided over by the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake. In parallel, Remembrance Day commemoration ceremonies were also held at all Naval Commands with the presence of respective Area Commanders.

33rd IMBL meeting concludes on successful note
The 33rd International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) meeting took place between the Indian and Sri Lanka navies aboard INS Sumitra. This meeting occurred at the Indo-Sri Lanka Maritime Boundary Line, situated north of Kankesanthurai on 03rd November 2023.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, graced the National Defence College (NDC) Research Symposium – 2023, held at the Auditorium of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 02nd November 2023. The theme of the research symposium was “Strategizing Security Challenges in a Dynamic Environment”.

JMSDF AKEBONO (DD 108) departs after her formal visit
Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer AKEBONO (DD 108) which arrived in Trincomalee on 28th October 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island today (31st October). The Sri Lanka Navy bade a customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval traditions at the Trincomalee harbour.
