Navy built RO plants in Ampara vested with the public

Four (04) more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, newly built as part of Naval Social Responsibility project in Padiyathalawa Divisional Secretariat, Ampara were declared open for community use on 04th February 2021. With these recent installations, the Navy has thus far set up a total of 817 Reverse Osmosis plants to fulfil safe drinking water requirement of the community who were deprived of such facilities.

Indonesian Naval Ship arrives at port of Hambantota

The Indonesian Naval Ship “KRI Bung Tomo” arrived at the port of Hambantota for a two day formal visit today (05th February 2021). Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the ship in keeping with the time honoured naval tradition.

Naval gun battery booms on Independence Day to honour the nation

In parallel with the 73rd National Independence Day celebrations held under the theme ‘A Wealthy Tomorrow - Prosperous Motherland’, Sri Lanka Navy honoured the nation by according a 25-Gun Salute onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Samudura by 12.00 noon today (04th February 2021).

Navy proudly takes part in 73rd National Independence Day celebrated with grandeur

The main ceremony of 73rd National Independence Day under the theme ‘A Wealthy Tomorrow - Prosperous Motherland’ was held in a dignified sequence at the Independence Square, Colombo this morning (04th February 2021). The apex of the this year’s ceremony was headed by the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the annual national spectacle was coloured by Sri Lanka Navy, filled with great pride.

Late Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha memorial statue unveiled in Dambulla

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (29th January 2021) presided over a ceremony at Weera Mohan Jayamaha Maha Vidyalaya in Dambulla, where he unveiled a memorial statue built in commemoration of late Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha who made the supreme sacrifice for motherland.

Naval personnel receive first jabs of ‘AstraZeneca Covishield’ at Navy General Hospital, Welisara

The inoculation of the first shots of ‘AstraZeneca Covishield’ vaccine to naval personnel got underway today (29th January 2021), after the doses allocated to the Navy were brought to the Navy General Hospital, Welisara form the Ministry of Health. This vaccine consignment arrived in the island following a request made by the President His Excellency, Gotabaya Rajapaksa from the Indian Government. Launching the vaccination efforts in the Navy, a group of naval personnel working frontline in the fight against COVID-19 were administered their first doses to this effect today.
