“Marines Field Training Exercise Blue Whale – 2024” commences

The “Marines Field Training Exercise, Blue Whale – 2024”, organized for the third (3rd) time by the Sri Lanka Navy Marines, commenced on 05th October 2024 at SLNS Vidura in Sampur, Trincomalee South. The Navy has organized a series of activities for this exercise, involving foreign naval forces, concentrated along the North-West coast and nearby coastal areas, running until 15th October.

Directorate of Naval Welfare donates 02 laptops to children of disabled naval personnel

The Directorate of Naval Welfare donated two laptops (02) to the children of naval personnel who were disabled in the line of duty. These laptops, which were provided by Vice Admiral SMB Weerasekara (Retd), were distributed among the children by Director General Services, Rear Admiral Priyal Withanage, during a ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters on 03rd October 2024.

Commander Combined Task Force 154 calls on Commander of the Navy

A delegation led by the Commander Combined Task Force (CTF) 154, Commodore Haytham Elsayed Khalil called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (02nd October 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy is set to assume command of Combined Task Force 154, a unit under the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), the world’s largest maritime coalition, based in Bahrain.

271 recruits of 255th intake of Regular and Volunteer Naval Forces pass out at SLNS Shiksha

Following the completion of their basic training, 211 Regular Naval Force recruits and 60 Volunteer Naval Force recruits from the 255th intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out in a vibrant ceremony at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa on 28th September 2024.

Final salute: Royal Navy officer's ashes laid to rest at Ostenburg Point, Trincomalee

In a solemn and dignified ceremony held at Trincomalee’s Ostenburg Point on 27th September 2024, the ashes of late Lieutenant Norman Schofield, a Royal Navy officer and Mrs Marian Schofield, his late spouse, were scattered with full naval honours. Between 1956 and 1958, Lieutenant Norman Schofield served as a communication officer at the HMS Highflyer naval base in Trincomalee, which was regarded as the second-largest naval base in the world during that period. In accordance with the officer's final wishes, who passed away in 1999, his and his spouse's ashes were respectfully scattered following naval traditions.

Seventy-six (76) Direct Entry Officers and Officer Cadets receives letters of appointment from Commander of the Navy

In a significant ceremony at Navy Headquarters on 27th September 2024, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, awarded appointment letters to 51 Officer Cadets of the 67th Intake, 18 Direct Entry Officers, and 7 Officer Cadets from University Grant Commission scheme.
