Naval personnel attached to SLNS Thambapanni in Puttalam belonging to the Northwestern Naval Command, in coordination with Puttalam Police, managed to apprehend 3 persons whilst selling Kerala Cannabis at two separate locations yesterday (11).

Acting upon a concept of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the latest position, “Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy”, for the sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy was formed and Master Chief Petty Officer TG Neelkaru XS 15959 was appointed as the first ever “Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy” by Commander of the Navy today (11).

The First Operational Level Bilateral Defence Dialogue between the US Armed Forces and Sri Lanka Armed Forces was held on 8th and 9th August 2016. Sri Lanka Navy hosted the event at Naval Headquarters premises.

Naval personnel onboard P 417 and P474 Fast Attack Craft belonging to the Western Naval Command managed to rescue 4 Indian fishermen in distress and their fishing boat which was down with an engine failure and drifting in the Western seas of Sri Lanka on 08th August.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba located in Nilaweli in the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 10 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using Monofilament Nets in the seas off Irankeini yesterday (8).

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest four Indian fishermen along with an Indian fishing trawler poaching in Sri Lankan waters West of Analativu today (9).

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Walagamba located in Kuchchaweli in the Eastern Naval Command arrested 6 local fishermen with a Fiber Glass Dingy and a Monofilament Net while fishing illegally in the seas off Kuchchaweli yesterday (7).
