Military Engineering and Technology Conference 2024 concludes in Welisara

The Military Engineering and Technology Conference 2024 was successfully held at Wave n' Lake Navy Hall, Welisara on 16th February 2024. At the invitation of the President of College of Military Engineering & Technology Sri Lanka (CMETSL), Director General Engineering of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe, the event was graced by the Secretary Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also dignified by the presence of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, members of CMETSL and distinguished guests.

Awareness programme in Galle Face aims to boost turtle hatchling success

SLNS Sayurala leaves for India to take part in MILAN 2024

Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Sayurala today (16th February 2024) left for India from the Port of Trincomalee to take part in MILAN 2024. MILAN, the multilateral naval exercise hosted by the Indian Navy for the 12th time, will be held from 19th to 27th February in the Visakhapatnam Port and in the Bay of Bengal, eastern seas of India.

Duo of Iranian Naval Ships arrive in Colombo

The Iranian Naval Ship (IRINS) Bushehr and Tonb arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (16th February 2024). The visiting ships were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

CMETSL Navy members receive membership cards and certificates

The awarding of membership cards and certificates to the Navy officers of College of Military Engineering & Technology Sri Lanka (CMETSL) took place on 09th February 2024 at the Navy Headquarters. The event was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera as the Chief Guest, with the attendance of the President of CMETSL, Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranashinge and other executive committee members of CMETSL from the Navy.

Indian Ocean Regional Information Sharing Standard Operation Procedure course concludes successfully

The Indian Ocean Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) Standard Operation Procedure course came to a successful end on 09th February 2024. Commenced on 05th of February, IORIS Standard Operation Procedure course was held at the Mandarin hotel, Colombo over 05 days. The certificate awarding was held under the patronage of Director General Operations of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris.

Navy enhances sanitary standards at schools in Medawachchiya

As part of Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, the Navy came forward to enhance sanitary standards at several schools in Medawachchiya by enabling its manpower. The funds necessary for the project were provided by a philanthropist from overseas. The facilities made available at Puleliya Vidyalaya, Thulawelliya Vidyalaya and Ginikatuwewa Vidyalaya Rambewa were declared open at those schools on 05th February 2024.

Sri Lanka Navy gears up for annual Kachchativu feast

The annual Kachchativu feast is set to take place on the 23rd and 24th February 2024 on the Kachchativu Island. Kachchativu is a small islet belongs to Sri Lanka, located near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the annual feast will be conducted by the Bishop of Jaffna Diocese, Rt. Rev. Justin Gnanapragasam. In the backdrop where the District Secretary of Jaffna has made necessary arrangements for the event, the Sri Lanka Navy is currently working in full swing to establish infrastructure and facilities for the convenience of devotees.
