Coinciding with the World Oral Health Day (20th March), the Dental Service of the Sri Lanka Navy successfully conducted a mobile dental clinic from 09th to 19th May 2023 in the Southeastern Naval Command.

Incoming and outgoing U.S. Naval Attachés call on Commander of the Navy

Commander of the Navy visits Anchorage Naval Care Centre in Welisara

Coinciding with the National War Heroes’ Day, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (18th May 2023) visited the Anchorage Naval Care Centre in Welisara and inquired into the wellbeing of dependent naval war heroes in rehabilitation. During this visit, Commander of the Navy was accompanied by the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa.

INS ‘Batti Malv’ arrives at port of Trincomalee on official visit

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Batti Malv’ arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on a formal visit this morning (16th May 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd) inspires young officers at Eastern Naval Command with compelling address

Another Experience Based Lecture (EBL), conducted to promote professional development of budding naval officers, was successfully held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee on 13th May 2023. The fifth step of EBL series was conducted by the 20th Commander of the Navy and former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd). The topic of his speech was “Location, Location, and Location: Defence Diplomacy & Indo Pacific Strategies for Sri Lanka”.

Forty one (41) nursing students capped in memorable ceremony

In a proud and poignant setting, the Capping Ceremony of the intake of year 2022 of Naval Nurses’ Training School, SLNS Thakshila was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama today (15th May 2023). The occasion saw forty one (41) nursing students from the Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force pledging of allegiance to the service in a ceremony graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera as the Chief Guest. Prof. SSP Warnakulasuriya, Dean Faculty of Nursing, University of Colombo attended the event as Guest of Honour. Naval Nurses’ Training School in Welisara, which serves as a crucial foundation for naval nurses, equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset is an institute accredited to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).

32nd Junior Naval Staff Course concludes on successful note

The Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee played host to a glamorous ceremony on 11th May 2023, as the 32nd Junior Naval Staff Course graduation ceremony was held on a successful note. The Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara graced the event as the Chief Guest.

Commander of the Navy opens Air Rifle Club at Naval Dockyard

In a bid to provide recreational facilities to those visiting the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 30th April 2023 opened the relocated Air Rifle Club in a location nearby the Naval Museum.

388 Navy recruits set sail into service after passing out in Poonewa

In a proud moment for the Sri Lanka Navy, three hundred and eighty-eight (388) recruits of the 250th intake of Sri Lanka Navy Regular and Volunteer Forces passed out at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha on 13th May 2023. The recruits consisted of 345 from the Regular Force and another 43 from the Volunteer Force.
