Over 33kg of Kerala cannabis valued more than Rs. 13 million seized
In separate operations on 17th October 2024, the Sri Lanka Navy, in coordination with the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Talaimannar, and acting independently on Kachchativu Island, seized approximately 33kg and 88g of Kerala cannabis (wet weight). One of the operations also led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the possession of the illicit substance.

Navy clears blockages beneath Agaliya and Dodangoda bridges
In a remarkable display of its expertise, the Sri Lanka Navy on 14th October 2024 cleared blockages under the Agaliya and Dodangoda bridges over Gin River in Baddegama area of Galle, ensuring the smooth flow of water downstream.

Two (02) suspects held with methamphetamine and prescription drug pills in Selwanayakapuram, Trincomalee
A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Selwanayakapuram, Trincomalee on 15th October 2024 led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 4g and 340mg of Methamphetamine (ICE) as well as 10 capsules and 20 tablets of prescription drugs, being smuggled to sell.

Navy assists transfer of ill fisherman rescued through coordination of MRCC Colombo
The Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman, who was aboard a local multi day fishing trawler on the high seas south-west of Sri Lanka, about 881 nautical miles (1631km) off Dondra. Initially, the fisherman was retrieved by a Merchant Vessel in the sea area, on being coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo. After being brought ashore today (15th October 2024), he was rushed to the National Hospital of Colombo, for medical attention.

Navy mobilizes resources to support communities affected by flood
Due to the heavy rainfall caused by adverse weather conditions affecting the island, several areas in the Western and Northwestern Provinces are experiencing floods. To assist those impacted, 07 Navy flood relief teams are engaged in relief operations in those areas as of today (15th October 2024). Working in coordination with the Disaster Management Center (DMC), Navy flood relief teams are continuously carrying out relief efforts in the Gampaha, Colombo and Puttalam districts.

Navy flood relief teams intensify operations amid adverse weather
Due to the heavy rainfall caused by adverse weather conditions affecting the island, several areas in the Western and Northwestern Provinces are experiencing flooding. To assist those impacted, 08 Navy flood relief teams have been dispatched to the Gampaha, Colombo and Puttalam districts, working in coordination with the Disaster Management Center (DMC). Navy apprehends 04 persons for engaging in illegal fishing in eastern waters
A special operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy on 09th October 2024 led to the apprehension of 04 persons who engaged in illegal fishing without valid fishing passes. During the operation, the Navy also seized one (01) dinghy as well as fishing gear used for this illegal fishing practice.

Four (04) Indian trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters intercepted
The Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard intercepted 04 Indian trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters and apprehended 21 Indian fishermen, during a special operation conducted off the Delft Island on 09th October 2024.
