Navy seizes 38kg of smuggled Kendu leaves in Silawathura

The Sri Lanka Navy seized 38kg of Kendu leaves smuggled into the country during a search operation conducted in the Pandaraweli beach area of Silawathura today, 26 October 2026.

During the operation, naval personnel from SLNS Therapuththa in the Northwestern Naval Command searched a suspicious sack (1) found in the Pandaraweli beach vicinity. The sack was found to contain approx. 38kg of Kendu leaves and seized consignment of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Mannar Excise Station for onward legal proceedings.
