Suspect arrested with foreign e-cigarettes in Wellampitiya

The Navy arrested a suspect with 130 foreign electronic cigarettes intended for illegal sale, in the Wellampitiya area of Colombo on 1 September 2026.

The arrest was made during a coordinated search operation mounted by naval personnel from SLNS Rangala in the Western Naval Command together with personnel of Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit of Mirihana.

The search led to the arrest of the suspect who is a resident of Wellampitiya, aged 26. The suspect along with the electronic cigarettes and a motor car were handed over to Wellampitiya Police for onward legal action.
