Naval Troops Apprehend 02 Persons With 75 Kilograms Of Gelignite

Naval troops attached to SLNS Thambapanni of the North Western Naval Command on information received arrested 02 persons with a haul of explosive devices including 510 sticks of Gelignite weighing 75 kilograms in the general area Anamaduwa-Paramakandagama on 21^st January 2014. Four hundred and twenty-four (424) non-electric detonators and 06 safety fuses were among the recovered items.

The explosives, intended to be sold for illegal fishing, had been hidden in a temporary shed behind the residence of the main suspect. The arrested persons and the items were handed over to Anamaduwa Police for further investigations.
