SLN facilitates exchange of 2nd batch of released fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy assisted in the exchange of the second batch of Indian and Sri Lanka fishermen released in accordance with the discussions between the two governments. Seventy-one Indian fishermen with fifteen fishing boats were handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship “Samudra Paharedar” at the International Maritime Boundary Line off Kankasanthurei on 24th January 2014. Fifty-nine Sri Lankan fishermen with four fishing boats were taken over from the Indian authorities in exchange.

Sri Lanka Navy Ship “Ranawickrama”, assisted by Sri Lanka Coast Guard vessels, “CG 42” and “CG 48”, was deployed for the humanitarian mission.
