Navy arrests 06 Persons engaged in Illegal Fishing

Naval troops attached to SLNS Gokanna of the Eastern Naval Command on information received arrested 06 persons and 02 FGDs engaged in illegal fishing on 03^rd April 2014. They had been using prohibited fishing nets in the general area of Upparu.

The arrested persons and the items along with 600 kilograms of illegally caught fish catch and the FGDs used for the illegal act were handed over to the Assistant Director of Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Trincomalee for legal action.
