Bravery of Senior Sailor to be commended

A brave action of a senior sailor attached to SLNS Lankapatuna of the Eastern Naval Area enabled to recover a T56 assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition in the general area of Ichchilampattai on 05^th May 2014.

He was jogging along the beach when he sighted the suspicious behavior of two youth who had been carrying something wrapped in a bag. When he approached them to inquire, they wrested themselves free and fled leaving the bag behind. The weapon and the ammunitions were found inside the sack. A combined search is being conducted in the area with the assistance of the Army and Police.
