Sri Lanka Navy assists the repatriation of 43 Indian fishermen and transfer of Indian fishing trawlers
Sri Lanka Navy assisted the repatriation of another batch of 43 Indian fishermen released from Sri Lankan custody. They were provided with safe passage onboard Sri Lanka Navy patrol craft P 437 attached to Northern Naval Command and Sri Lanka Coast Guard vessel CG 47, and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship “Rani Ambakka” at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Kankasanturei on 17th March 2015.
Amidst repatriation, SLN facilitated the transfer of 34 Indian fishing trawlers that were released from the custody, recently. A group of Indian fishermen reached KKS on 16th March onboard 18 trawlers to take away the released. Sri Lanka Navy patrol craft P 497 escorted the Indian fishing trawlers up to IMBL off KKS with the assistance of Sri Lanka Coast Guard vessel CG 45.
