Sri Lankan Navy facilitate to hand over released Indian fishing trawlers
The Sri Lanka Navy facilitated to handover 16 Indian fishing trawlers which had been released by the court, and remaining Sri Lanka until the owners of the trawlers make arrangements to take them back to India. 15 trawlers were in Karainagar and the other was in Thalaimannar, and they were handed over to Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Ameya’ at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) north off Delft on 24th April 2015.
One hundred twenty-three Indian personnel including repair teams arrives Sri Lanka onboard 18 trawlers on 22nd April to salvage the released trawlers, and the Sri Lanka Navy provided them accommodation in Karainagar and Thalaimannar Navy Camp during their stay in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard craft accompanied the Indian trawlers whilst on passage to ensure their safety.
