North Central Naval Command 'A' wins Inter-Command Soft Ball Cricket Tournament 2026

The North Central Naval Command 'A' team won the Command Soft Ball Cricket Tournament 2026, edging out the Eastern Naval Command 'B' team in the final at the Welisara Navy Cricket Ground on 20 September 2026.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, graced the final match and presented awards to the winners. The tournament brought together teams from every Naval Command.

Tournament highlights:

Best Bowler : Leading Engineering Mechanic DMS Dilhal (Eastern Naval Command ‘B’ team)

Best Batsman :Petty Officer GWA Wijerathna (Eastern Naval Command ‘B’ team)

Man of the Match : Petty Officer WD Roshan (North Central Naval Command ‘A’ team)

Player of the Tournament : Lieutenant Commander KLL Savinda (North Central Naval Command ‘A’ team)

The Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Harsha De Silva, and Chairman Sri Lanka Navy Cricket Commodore Chaminda Ranaweera were also present on this occasion. Also, former Sri Lanka national cricketers Upul Tharanga, Ajantha Mendis, Tharanga Paranavitana, Chamara Kapugedera, and current player Avishka Fernando as well as a group of naval personnel witnessed the final.
