Navy nabs 04 suspects for possession of illegal drugs
Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations in order to prevent smuggling of drugs in the country. During similar operations carried out in the North Central and in Eastern Naval Commands on 24th July 2020, the Navy managed to apprehend 04 suspects for possession of illegal drugs which included more than 09kg of Kerala cannabis and other substances.

The Navy yet again has rendered assistance to a distressed Kenyan flagged vessel which was in total power failure for days at high seas. The Navy responding to a distress alert received at Maritime Rescue Coordinating Center (MRCC) Colombo on 21st July 2020 rendered towing assistance to the distressed vessel which was drifting about 170 nautical miles (about 306 km) south of Sri Lanka....

Navy Commander calls on Air Force Commander
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (21st July 2020) called on Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias at the Air Force Headquarters. Commander of the Navy was accorded a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the Air Force Headquarters. This visit also marked the first official interaction between them after Commander of the Navy assumed office as the 24th Navy Chief.
