A National Defence University (NDU) delegation from the People’s Republic of China on 23rd June 2023 visited the Navy Headquarters. The 56-member delegation, led by Major General Zhang Changsheng, is currently in Sri Lanka, as part of the study tour from 21 to 24th June.

IKAZUCHI (DD-107) of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, which arrived in Colombo on 22nd June 2023, departed the island on 23rd June 2023. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (23rd June 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Vijitha Marapana who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed over 33 years.

The Indian Navy submarine INS Vagir, which arrived in Colombo on 19th June 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island today (22nd June). The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing submarine in compliance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.

The Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, H.E. Maged Mosleh met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (21st June 2023).

The High Commission of India in Colombo, the crew of Indian Navy submarine INS Vagir and the Sri Lanka Navy marked the International Day of Yoga today (21st June 2023). The special yoga programme in this regard was held at the Colombo harbour under the patronage of the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, H.E. Gopal Baglay and the Secretary of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd). The event was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (21st June 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Janaka Nissanka who retired from his distinguished naval service which spanned over 33 years.

The French Naval Ship Dupuy de Lôme arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (21st June 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval tradition.

The Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) ‘Tippu Sultan’ which arrived in Colombo on 18th June 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island today (20th June). On her departure, PNS ‘Tippu Sultan’ also conducted a successful Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with SLNS Gajabahu.
