A colourful ceremony saw the passing out of 13 Direct Entry officers of Executive and Logistic branches from 1/2019 intake and commissioning of 06 Service Entry candidates of 1/2019 batch at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on 11th September 2020. The event was graced by Commander Western Naval Area, as the Chief Guest.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presided over a ceremony held at the SBS Headquarters, Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 10th September 2020, to award insignia to 03 officers and 29 sailors of the 27th intake of the Navy's Special Boats Squadron (SBS), on successful completion of their training.

After assuming office as the 24th Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne paid his maiden visit to the Eastern Naval Command on 10th September 2020.

Rear Admiral Sanath Uthpala assumed office as the Commandant Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) at the VNF Headquarters, on 09th September 2020.

The 53rd anniversary of SLNS Rangalla was celebrated on a grand note on 09th September 2020.                                    

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne met with the Commanding Officer of Indian Coast Guard Ship Ameya, Commandant (JG) AK Pandey in Trincomalee today (10th September 2020) and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the all-out support rendered by the Indian Coast Guard in managing the disaster situation onboard MT New Diamond.

As another step of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant installed at Poolawala Maha Viharaya in Mahaoya, Ampara declared open for community use on 07th September 2020.

Continuing its commitment to conserve the environment, the Navy carried out several beach cleaning programmes in Northern, Southern and Eastern Naval Areas, during the past week.

Another 169 Advanced Level students in Jaffna Peninsula were felicitous to get aboard a Navy ship for a cruise in northern waters on 06th September 2020.
