The Defence Advisor of Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Group Captain Sean Unvin paid a courtesy call on the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Niraja Ategalle at the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters yesterday (3rd May).

Another 40 senior sailors of Sri Lanka Navy were granted interest free loan facility, amounting to five hundred thousand rupees (Rs.500,000/=) each, by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the Naval Headquarters, today (02 May 2018).

To coincide with the National Vesak day which falls after 2562 years of Lord Buddha’s passing away Sri Lanka Navy had organized a series of religious events. Accordingly, Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone at Gangarama temple, “Kolomthota” Vesak zone at Colombo harbour premises, “Sirasa” Vesak zone and some other places around Naval bases were illuminated with charming Vesak decorations.

The ceremonial opening of the Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone of this year got off the ground on 29 April 2018 under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Seema Malaka premises of Gangaramaya Temple, Hunupitiya.

Navy apprehended 14 persons engaged in illegal activities during the past few days across the country.

In parallel with the celebration of Vesak festival, a special blood donation campaign conducted by the staff members of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital took place at the hospital premises on 28 April 2018.

The inter-command sea swimming competition which consisted of a 2km swim was successfully held at the Nicholson Cove seas yesterday (28 April 2018) with the participation of over 450 male and female swimmers.

The inaugural ceremony of Pacific Partnership 2018 was held on a grand manner at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee in the Eastern Naval Command, yesterday (25th April).

Sri Lanka Navy Canoeing Pool emerged with the overall championship and other several positions at the 2^nd National Canoe Sprint Championship which worked off on the waters of Diyawannawa on 23^rd and 24^th April.
