Navy provides diving assistance to fix sluice and emergency gates at tanks
The Navy provided diving assistance on 1st and 4th December 2024 to repair the sluice and emergency gates of the Namal Oya Tank in the Inginiyagala Divisional Secretariat, Ampara, and the sluice gate of the Borapola Tank in the Mahaoya Divisional Secretariat.

Navy seizes 02 Indian fishing boats poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of Mannar
The Sri Lanka Navy seized 02 Indian fishing boats and apprehend 14 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during a special operation conducted in the sea area north of Mannar in the dark hours of 04th December 2024.

Navy seizes Kerala cannabis valued over Rs. 75 million in Guru Nagar, Jaffna
The Navy seized about 188kg and 455g of Kerala cannabis from a dinghy, during a special search operation conducted in the sea area of Guru Nagar, Jaffna in the wee hours of today (04th December 2024).

Navy apprehends 12 persons for engaging in illegal fishing in eastern waters
During search operations on 02nd and 03rd December 2024, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 12 individuals involved in illegal fishing activities in the sea area of Nilaveli and the beach area of Punnayadi in Trincomalee. These activities included the use of unauthorized fishing nets and light coarse fishing techniques. Additionally, the operations resulted in the seizure of four (04) dinghies and one (01) traditional boat.

Navy seizes 01 Indian fishing boat and apprehends 18 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters
A special operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy led to the seizure of 01 Indian fishing boat and apprehension of 18 Indian fishermen, poaching in Sri Lankan waters. This special operation was conducted off Veththalakerni, Jaffna on 02nd December 2024. When the apprehension was made, the fishing boat had crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line by approximately 30 nautical miles, entering Sri Lankan waters.

Crystal Methamphetamine worth over Rs. 3380 million and multi-day fishing trawlers seized by Indian Navy with SLN assistance brought to port of Colombo
Following a successful intelligence collaboration between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Indian Navy, the Indian Navy intercepted a local multi-day fishing trawler (01) carrying a large haul of Crystal Methamphetamine, another multi-day trawler (01) suspected of involvement in the smuggling along with a group of suspects. SLNS Gajabahu escorted those fishing trawlers and suspects to the Colombo port today (02nd December 2024), for onward legal action. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera visited Colombo port to inspect the seized haul of narcotics. The Defence Attaché of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Captain M. Anand, was also present during the inspection.

About 733kg of smuggled Tendu leaves recovered in Kalpitiya
A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the beach area of Mohoththuwaram in Kalpitiya on 01st December 2024, led to the recovery of about 733kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves. It is believed the consignment of Tendu leaves was smuggled into the country via sea.

Navy conducts flood relief missions across affected regions in Anuradhapura and Trincomalee
The Navy deployed relief teams to Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts to assist communities impacted by severe flooding caused by adverse weather. As of today (01st December 2024), the teams continue to conduct relief operations across the affected areas.
