NSVU provides ICU beds to Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa
As yet another social responsibility initiative of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), 03 High Dependency Unit / Intensive Care Unit (HDU / ICU) beds were provided for the use of Special Maternity Unit of the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa. The generous deed was held under the patronage of the NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Light House Galley on 12th May 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy on 11th May 2021 apprehended a person who was returning to Mannar area by a small boat via sea routes, after having flown to India by air. Along with the suspect, 02 persons aboard and another 02 suspects involved in the act of smuggling were also taken into naval custody.

Commander of the Navy commends fine virtue of naval person
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne recognized a fine virtue of Leading Seaman AGHS Udayakumara XS 100126 by awarding him a Letter of Commendation at the Naval Headquarters today (10th May 2021). Thus, the sailor was much admired for returning a wallet with money lying at the No 03 entrance of Colombo harbour on 27th April 2021, to its owner.

Navy seizes stock of Kerala cannabis worth over Rs. 70 million and onion seeds in northwestern and western seas
Naval patrols conducted in northwestern and western waters of the island on 07th May 2021, led to the seizure of over 235kg of Kerala cannabis and about 522kg of onion seeds, attempted to be smuggled into the country via sea routes.
