01st Training Squadron of Indian Navy arrives in Colombo and Trincomalee for bilateral naval exercise
The training ships of the 01st Training Squadron of the Indian Navy arrived in Sri Lanka for a bilateral naval exercise today (24th October 2021). Accordingly, Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Shardul’ and ‘Magar’ arrived at the Colombo harbour whereas INS ‘Sujata’, ‘Sudarshini’, ‘Tarangini’ and Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) ‘Vikram’ called at the port of Trincomalee. Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ships in compliance with naval traditions. In parallel, Flag Officer Commander - in – Chief Southern Naval Command Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla also arrived in Sri Lanka on an official visit.

Sixty seven (67) women recruits of 242nd intake pass out in Boossa
Sixty seven (67) regular and volunteer women recruits, trained at SLNS Nipuna in Boossa, Galle, belong to the 242nd intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out in dignified sequence, after successful completion of their basic training, at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna in Boossa, Galle on 18th October 2021.

Indian National Defence College delegation visits Navy Headquarters
An Indian National Defence College (NDC) delegation, currently in Sri Lanka as part of their curriculum, called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on18th October 2021. The delegation was led by Major General Hari B Pillai from the directing staff of the Indian National Defence College.

Navy plants 5000 mangrove saplings in lagoon areas of Jaffna Peninsula
The final phase of the 5000 mangrove sapling planting programme, in lagoon areas of the Jaffna Peninsula, worked off at the Ponnale lagoon on 17th October 2021, under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Defence Secretary lays foundation stone for proposed Pilgrims Hall at Deeghawapi Raja Maha Viharaya
Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne laid the foundation stone for a proposed Pilgrims Hall (Vishrama Shala) at the Deeghawapi Raja Maha Viharaya on 15th October 2021. Sri Lanka Navy is to enable skilled manpower for the construction of this new building, in line with the development plan of the historic Deeghawapi Raja Maha Vihara.

324 well-groomed recruits of 242nd intake pass out in Poonewa
After completion of their basic training, three hundred and twenty four (324) regular and volunteer recruits and women recruits of the 242nd intake of the Sri Lanka Navy, passed out in a colourful ceremony held at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha, Poonewa today (16th October 2021).
