The Sri Lanka Navy netball team won the championship in the State Services knock-out Netball Tournament – 2014, beating the defending champions, Sri Lanka Air Force, 43-33.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Merchant Marine Training School (MMTS) has received B-1 Grade certification consequent to a comprehensive independent evaluation audit carried out by Mr. Ajoy Chattergy, the Principal and Head of the Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies based in Pune, India.

The Katina Pinkama of the Nagadeepa Purana Raja Maha Viharaya was held on a grand scale with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy.

This was said by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera, addressing the officers being commissioned at the colourful commissioning and passing out parade held at the Main Parade Ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trinomalee on Saturday 11th October 2014.

A delegation of foreign school and university cadets accompanied by the Director General of the National Cadet Corps, Major General HMHA Herath and Heads of Delegation of several countries to which the visiting cadets belong visited the Naval Headquarters in Colombo on 13th October 2014.

Two Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) ships, “JS BUNGO” and “JS YAEYAMA” arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill and supply visit on 13th October 2014

The Commander of Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 11th October 2014.

The Indian Defence Secretary Mr. Shri RK Mathur paid a courtesy call on His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Kandy on 10th October 2014.

The inter-command basketball tournament of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at SLN Dockyard in Trincomalee from 03rd to 07th October 2014.

The Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Squadron (4RS) underwent a silver medal refresher life saving training on 01st October 2014 at the Calido beach in Kalutara. The Commanding Officer RABS/4RS and seventy-four 4RS personnel took part in the training programme conducted in collaboration with the Life Saving Association of Sri Lanka (LSASL) and Life Saving Victoria (LSV) based in Australia.
